Many of us have been lucky to have sampled some of the incredible flavour profiles that the exciting world of Single Cask Whisky can offer us – rather than being a blend of casks selected by a malt master to show off an aspect of a distillery’s character, a Single Cask whisky is a limited glimpse of the unique interaction between a raw spirit, a particular barrel, and tempered by the unique circumstances surrounding that barrel for its lifetime.
Exponents of Single Cask selection are the Scotch Malt Whisky Society, and for Whisky Squad #29 we’re honoured to announce that we’ve been invited to the London clubrooms to explore a range of bottlings by the SMWS.
Leading us through this we’re fortunate to have the expert guidance of Society Ambassador and GENUINE Scotsman, John McCheyne.
Though John relocated to London from Glasgow in 1988, his passion for whisky started with Laphroaig and he was lucky enough to visit the distillery back in 1983 (That’s back before aircraft were invented, so he’d have had to travel in a horse & cart!) .
John conducts Society tastings all over the place, but next to being invited to present to Whisky Squad, he let slip that his next most prestigious tasting was the G20 Summit a couple of years back…
Tickets are £15 per person
Whisky Squad is London’s friendliest casual whisky tasting group, and enthusiasts of all levels of experience are welcome. Whisky’s an exciting world, and you’ve got to get started somewhere!
