A constant feature of the world of whisky is tasting notes. Sprinklings of sensory descriptions sprayed across the page and intoned around rooms of whisky enthusiasts with varying levels of seriousness. Books have been published containing little more than tasting notes and many people take the words of the ‘experts’ as gospel truth, digging out obscure flavours from the most innocuous of places. So, we thought we’d put them to the test.

Five whiskies, a small stack of competing tasting notes, and your very own palates and noses. We’ll be asking you to match the whisky to a tasting note, as well as creating your own, for a flavour packed evening of adjectives, hints, modicums and lashings.  And niceness.  Lashings of niceness.

Whisky Squad #60 will be held upstairs at The Red Lion on Thursday April 18th, 19:30, £16 per head.
